Description
Before the symphony, use a coin on a paper grid to follow up, down, left and right commands like a screen-free game controller.
What to prep
- paper
- pencil
- coin
Play guide
- 1Draw a three-by-three grid and place a coin in the centre square. The caller gives three commands using only up, down, left and right.
- 2The mover slides the coin one square per command. One point if all three moves stay on the grid and match the directions.
- 3Swap caller and mover. For a harder round, give four commands before the coin starts moving.
Success signals
The child translates directional language into a controlled sequence and gets both caller and player roles.
If it's tricky
If three commands are too much, call one at a time. If left and right are confusing, mark L and R beside the grid.
