Description
Before meeting The Nutcracker's Snow Queen, make a paper snowflake and predict how your cuts will repeat when it opens.
What to prep
- Paper squares
- Child-safe scissors with adult help
Cost: FreeBest time: AnytimeCreates something to keep
Play guide
- 1Fold a square of paper in half, then in half again. An adult helps cut one small triangle from a folded edge without cutting the fold apart.
- 2Each predict where the hole will appear, then open the paper together for the reveal.
- 3Refold and add one more small cut. Try a second sheet with a different fold to compare the patterns.
Success signals
A real fold produces repeated cut marks that can be predicted and checked.
If it's tricky
Cutting is not suitable: fold a sheet, make one crayon mark and see how positions correspond on the opened sheet.
