Description
A calm craft where the child loops yarn over their fingers and works the loops along to make a soft knitted cord, with no needles required. Produces a length of cord the child can keep or use.

Play guide
- 1Give your child a ball of soft, chunky yarn and show how to anchor the end around one finger.
- 2Guide them to weave the yarn over and under their fingers to make a row of loops.
- 3Show how to lift the lower loop over the top loop on each finger, then wrap a new row.
- 4Repeat the lift-and-wrap steps; a cord slowly grows down from the hand.
- 5When it is long enough, help them slip the loops off and tie the end so it does not unravel.

Your child works the loops along their fingers and a cord begins to form. They keep going for several rows. They want to keep or show the cord they made
If it's tricky
The loops fall off or tangle: Slow down and help reset the fingers with looser loops; chunky yarn holds better. Your child's hands tire: Work in short bursts and set the loops aside to continue later. The whole thing unravels: Cast on again together; the repetition is part of the calm of it
