Description
Turn an ordinary shopping list into a short song before musical-theatre class. Use a tune you both know, so nobody has to compose one.
Cost: FreeBest time: Anytime
Play guide
- 1Choose a familiar tune, such as Row, Row, Row Your Boat. Say three everyday items: bread, milk, apples.
- 2Sing the item names to the tune. Your partner guesses which tune you used, then sings a different three-item list.
- 3Sing your two lists together, fitting extra syllables into the tune however they work.
Success signals
The child fits concrete words into a known musical pattern and recognises a tune.
If it's tricky
Nobody wants to sing: chant the three items to a steady clap instead.
