Description
Pour washable paint into small bowls and let your child paint directly with their hands and fingers - no brushes, no rules, just color and texture on paper.

Play guide
- 1Prepare the space first: put down a plastic sheet, newspaper, or old cloth on the table. Have a damp cloth or damp paper for hand wiping nearby. Dress your child in old clothes or an apron.
- 2Pour small amounts of washable paint into bowls or onto a plate - 2-4 colors is enough. Too many colors at once makes everything brown.
- 3Place a large sheet of paper on the protected surface.
- 4Demonstrate dipping a finger into paint and dragging it across the paper. Most children need only one demonstration before they take over.
- 5Let them paint freely. Resist commenting on technique or what the painting looks like.
- 6When done, wipe hands with the damp cloth before moving anywhere. Leave the painting flat to dry completely before touching.
Success signals
Your child puts their fingers into the paint without hesitation (or within a minute of gentle encouragement). They stay engaged for at least 5-10 minutes. They use more than one color and experiment with different gestures - spreading, dotting, dragging
If it's tricky
Child is reluctant to touch the paint: Let them watch you use it on your own sheet first, then offer again - sensory reluctance usually softens with low-pressure exposure. Child immediately mixes all colors into brown: Offer fresh paper and suggest keeping one hand per color. Paint gets off the paper onto the table: Redirect to the paper calmly - don't make a production of the mess. Paint dries on hands before wiping: Warm water removes washable paint easily.
