Description
Before the history excursion, compare your age with one ordinary household object that the adult knows is older than the child.

Cost: FreeBest time: Anytime
Play guide
- 1The adult chooses one safe object with a known history, such as a mug bought before the child was born or an older family book.
- 2The child guesses: older than me, younger than me, or not sure. The adult reveals the simple answer and how they know.
- 3Choose one newer object and compare again. Finish by putting the two objects in older-to-newer order.
Success signals
The child uses a real object to think about relative age and chronology.
If it's tricky
If the exact age is unknown, choose a different object rather than guessing.
