Play guide
- 1Gather a mix of safe loose parts, such as bottle caps, cardboard tubes, string, boxes, and spoons.
- 2Ask your child what kind of machine they want to invent and what it is supposed to do.
- 3Let them arrange and connect the parts into their machine however they picture it.
- 4Once it is built, ask them to walk you through it, naming what each part does and how one part affects another.
- 5Invite them to add a new part with a new job, or to act out the machine running.
