Play guide
- 1Place tissue paper, printer paper and thin cardboard one at a time in front of an LED torch aimed at a wall.
- 2Compare how much light comes through each one and put them in order from brightest to darkest.
- 3Choose which material would make the best pretend lantern window and test your choice once more.

The child changes one real material at a time and sees an immediate difference in transmitted light.

No tissue paper: compare printer paper, a paper napkin and thin cardboard instead.
