High Low Hand Slide

Description

After the recital, use one hand moving up and down to guide a comfortable hum from lower to higher and back again.

Cost: FreeBest time: Anytime

Play guide

  1. 1The adult moves one flat hand slowly upward while making a comfortable hum that rises, then moves the hand down while the hum falls.
  2. 2The child controls the adult’s hand direction for one short glide, stopping whenever they close their fist.
  3. 3Change jobs: the child may hum, whistle softly or simply move the hand while the adult makes the sound.

Success signals

The child links a visible up/down gesture with higher/lower pitch and gets a turn controlling the sound.

If it's tricky

If humming is uncomfortable, the adult makes the sound while the child controls the hand only.
