Cost: FreeBest time: Anytime
Play guide
- 1Choose one very ordinary object, such as a charging cable, reusable bottle or TV remote.
- 2Use this ready example as the model: “Ancient charging cable: used to feed hungry rectangles.” Make one short future label for your object.
- 3Swap objects. The adult writes or says a label for the child’s choice, and the child decides which label sounds more convincingly ridiculous.
Success signals
The child distinguishes an object from an interpretation of it and creates a short explanation for an audience.
If it's tricky
If making a joke is hard, use the template “Ancient ___: used for ___.” The adult can supply the first blank.
