Play guide
- 1Set the challenge together so your child builds a bridge that spans a fixed gap (between two chairs or two stacks of books) from a limited set of materials.
- 2Have your child sketch a design and think about which shapes might make it stronger before building.
- 3Let them build their first bridge from the agreed materials only.
- 4Test it by adding weight gradually (coins, books, or a cup filling with water) and noting how much it held before it gave way.
- 5Ask them to change one thing based on what they saw, rebuild, and test again to compare.

If it's tricky
