Play guide
- 1Wait for a calm, alert moment and lay your baby on their back on a firm, flat surface where they have a clear view of a ceiling or plain wall.
- 2Create slow, soft movement of light by drawing a curtain part-way and letting daylight shift, or moving a soft (non-glaring) light gently, or hanging a slowly turning object near a window so it casts a moving shadow.
- 3Keep the light soft and never shine any light toward your baby's eyes.
- 4Sit close and let your baby watch. Follow their gaze; narrate softly and sparingly if you like, but mostly let them take it in.
- 5Keep movements slow and the room quiet; this is a wind-down, not a light show.
- 6Stop when your baby looks away, fusses, or grows drowsy.
