Description
Make one safe household sound out of sight and let the other person guess what made it.

- rolled_sock
- plastic_cup
Cost: FreeBest time: Anytime
Play guide
- 1Put a wooden spoon, rolled sock and plastic cup on the table and hear one safe sound from each: tap, soft drop and fingertip drum.
- 2The guesser turns around. The other person makes one of the three sounds behind their back, then the guesser names or points to the object.
- 3Reveal the object and swap. Keep score if you like: one point for each sound identified on the first try.
Success signals
The child discriminates between real everyday sounds and gets both maker and listener roles.
If it's tricky
If three sounds are too similar, start with spoon tap versus sock drop only.
