Description
Before the outdoor orchestra begins, listen from your place on the lawn and point to real sounds coming from different directions.
Cost: FreeBest time: Evening
Play guide
- 1Once your family is settled on the lawn and before the concert starts, listen for one real sound that is not the orchestra.
- 2Point together to where it seems to come from: left, right, in front or behind.
- 3Find one or two more directions if you like, then stop the game as soon as the concert begins.
Success signals
The child localises ordinary outdoor sounds and compares direction with the adult before the performance begins.
If it's tricky
The lawn is too noisy to separate sounds: choose just one clear sound and point to its direction.
