Play guide
- 1Clear a space with room to move and no hard corners or furniture in the way.
- 2Start the music and let everyone dance however they like.
- 3Stop the music suddenly; everyone must freeze in place and hold still.
- 4Anyone still moving after the music stops sits out for the next round, or does a fun forfeit like a silly pose.
- 5Play more rounds until one player is left or everyone wants to stop, then start again.
Success signals
Your child dances freely when the music plays and stops quickly when it cuts off. They hold their freeze for a few seconds. They ask to play again.
If it's tricky
Freezing on the spot is hard: Count "freeze in three, two, one" for the first few rounds so the stop is predictable. Sitting out upsets a young child: Play the no-elimination version where a freeze wobble just earns a giggly forfeit and everyone stays in. Dancers drift into each other: Pause and give everyone a spot to return to between rounds.
