Description
Race from one end of a room to the other as slowly as possible without stopping. Last to arrive wins. Deliberately moving in slow motion is much harder than it sounds - and genuinely funny to watch.

Play guide
- 1Stand at one end of any room or corridor with your child. Mark the finish line - a wall, a door, a folded towel - at least 6 feet away.
- 2Explain the rule - you must keep moving toward the finish line at all times. No stopping, no stepping backward. The last person to cross the finish line wins.
- 3Count down together - "three, two, one, slow race go!" - and begin moving as slowly as possible.
- 4Parent commits fully - genuine slow-motion effort, not walking normally. The sillier the movement the better.
- 5When someone crosses the finish line, they are out. The last person still moving wins. Play 3-5 rounds.
Success signals
Your child commits to slow movement rather than defaulting to normal speed. They watch your legs carefully to avoid finishing before you. Laughter starts in the first round and continues. They ask to play another round without prompting.
If it's tricky
Child runs to the finish immediately (winning the old way): Remind them the rule - last to arrive wins. The concept clicks but they still can't help speeding up: Give them a silly constraint that slows their body down - "move like you are underwater" or "move like you are a very slow robot." The room is too short for a real race (hallway under 4 feet): Move to a longer route - sofa to kitchen doorway, or two ends of an open living area.
