Description
Two children build a single structure together out of blocks or boxes without talking, working out who does what through pointing, gestures, and taking turns.

Play guide
- 1Set out a shared pile of building materials and one clear space for the single structure.
- 2Explain that both builders work on one build together, and the challenge is doing it without words for a set stretch of time.
- 3Let them start, using pointing, nodding, and offering pieces instead of speaking.
- 4Stay nearby and let them work out disagreements through gesture rather than stepping in to solve it for them.
- 5When the time is up or the build feels done, let them talk again and describe what they made together.
Success signals
Both children add to the same structure rather than building separately. They use gestures and offering to coordinate instead of words. They stay with it through at least one moment where they had to sort out a difference silently.
If it's tricky
Words keep slipping out: Keep it playful rather than strict and just gently restart the silent stretch. One child takes over completely: Pause and hand each of them a fair share of the pieces to rebalance. Frustration builds because they cannot agree: Let them have one short talking break, then return to silence.
