Movement Memory Chain

Description

A group movement game where each player adds one new action to a growing chain, and everyone has to perform the whole chain in order before the next move is added.

What to prep

  • space
Cost: FreeBest time: Anytime

Play guide

  1. 1Clear a safe space where everyone can move without bumping into things.
  2. 2The first player does one simple move, such as a jump or a spin.
  3. 3The next player repeats that move, then adds one new move of their own to the end.
  4. 4Keep going around, with each player performing the whole chain in order and then adding one more move.
  5. 5When someone forgets or the chain gets gloriously long, celebrate the run and start a fresh chain.

Success signals

Your child recalls and performs several moves in the right order. They add a new move that others can copy. They stay in the game with laughter when the chain finally breaks rather than treating a slip as losing

If it's tricky

The chain gets too long to remember: Cap it at a set number of moves and start over. A younger child cannot recall the order: Let players do the chain together out loud as a group rather than solo. Moves get too wild or risky: Agree that all moves have to be safe to copy in the space you have
